About the Charities
All proceeds from the annual Grubb & Ellis Charity Raft Race presented by the City of Reno go directly to benefit two local charities – The Truckee River Foundation and The Transplant Network. In just three years, the event has raised more than $47,000 for the two organizations and we hope to exceed our previous contributions in 2008 thanks to the help of our sponsors!
So what do funds raised do for these organizations? The Truckee River Foundation, a non-profit organization designed to directly impact the Truckee River by providing environmental, educational, access, safety and athlete development programs, presents its annual “Stay Afloat Safety Fair,” an event designed to provide river safety instruction, free helmets and Personal Floatation Devices (PFDs) for youths age 8 to 13. The Foundation launched the event in 2005, following the inaugural Charity Raft Race, and it continues to thrive reaching out to more children every year.
The Transplant Network, a non-profit organization committed to saving the lives of transplant patients, lends financial support to local transplant patients in need. To date, the organization has aided four local residents in need of transplants and helped them to manage medical costs and recovery. All recipients are currently doing great!
